Hey, Sunshine Kitchen will be partnering with Friends of Ballona Wetlands to help support pollinator conservation. Vital for food growth, more than 75% of food crops depend on pollinators, including fruits and vegetables. Pollinators are also responsible for helping grow plants that store carbon and produce oxygen and help to restore deforested areas. Since 1978, the Friends of Ballona Wetlands have been the preeminent group fighting to save and restore the Ballona Wetlands. Through this partnership, Hey, Sunshine Kitchen will be giving complimentary pollinator-friendly plants to guests on Mondays, while supplies last, when they purchase a meal. This partnership exemplifies the Hey, Sunshine Kitchen mission of delivering amazing food while creating a more sustainable future. Follow Your Heart, a leading plant-based food company is the inaugural corporate sponsor for this program. They have long been champions of sustainability and Hey, Sunshine Kitchen is proud to be partnering with them.
"We ran Spork Foods for over 15 years and trained home cooks and chefs at resorts, hotels and universities. Jenny and I always envisioned that we would start a restaurant endeavor together to bring sustainable and delicious meals to our beloved community," said Ray, co-founder of Hey, Sunshine Kitchen. "With Hey, Sunshine Kitchen, our philosophy is to create non-GMO plant-based foods that taste amazing without sacrificing the textures and flavors people love."
Hey, Sunshine Kitchen is excited to celebrate the grand opening of its inaugural store with the Los Angeles community where its founders, Heather and Jenny, grew up. The grand opening event is family and pet-friendly and children can enjoy fun face-painting, receive beautiful butterfly-shaped wildflower seed papers for future planting and more.
