Hobaica Services Works With Community To Help Family In Need
PHOENIX (PRWEB) May 11, 2023 -- When Sonya Hemmings returned home this week to her house, she wasn’t expecting it to feel nice and cool inside. Since her air conditioning had died back in August of 2022, Sonya was used to her home feeling hot and uncomfortable. After months of saving, the Hemmings family had planned on replacing the unit this spring. Unfortunately, tragedy struck last month when Sonya’s husband passed away unexpectedly. Sonya and her 5 children had been living with just two portable ACs in the Arizona heat and weren’t sure what they were going to do.
Lori, owner of Smiley Crane, heard about Sonya and her situation through an employee. Smiley Crane Service is a crane service company serving Phoenix, Tucson, and Los Angeles. Lori reached out to Hobaica Services because she knew of their work in the community. One of the missions of Hobaica Services is to give back to the local community in a number of ways, evident in their hugely popular One Bag At A Time program that provides essential supplies to the homeless population.
Mike Hobaica, who manages the installation department at Hobaica Services, recognized the possible ways his company could help. “We saw a need in our community and ways we could help the Hemmings family so we jumped right in,” Hobaica says. He coordinated the job and gathered donations from vendor partners to replace Sonya’s HVAC. Lennox provided the new heat pump; Empire Metals provided the sheet metal ducting and unit stand; Hercules provided the HVAC installation supplies; Smiley Crane provided the crane lift; and Hobaica Services provided the labor.
Last week, some friends of Sonya’s arranged for her to be out of the house all day so that the new system could be installed. When she got home, the first words out of her mouth were “There’s cold air! What is going on?” Her friends excitedly told her that she had a new air conditioning system installed that day. “I can’t believe we have air conditioning in our house!” Hemmings said.
Hobaica Services was happy and proud to be able to help the Hemmings family. “It’s a great day when we can do this kind of service for someone in need,” Mike Hobaica says.
