NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 10, 2019 -- NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), a leading education nonprofit, today announced that President and Chief Executive Office Shawn K. Osborne has resigned, citing family reasons. He will officially step down on June 30, remaining engaged as a senior advisor through December 31.
"This was a difficult decision to make," said Osborne. "I love the work we do supporting youth entrepreneurship, and I feel privileged to have led such an incredible organization. The NFTE team truly models the entrepreneurial mindset we teach."
During his tenure, Osborne guided NFTE through a period of intense transformation. In the past four years, NFTE completed a major organizational restructuring, building a data-driven culture while making programs more scalable. The strategy to modernize, digitize, and monetize has had demonstrable impact. NFTE updated and digitized its award-winning curriculum and began to structure earned income initiatives that could augment the contributions and in-kind support that have traditionally sustained the organization.
Under Osborne’s leadership, NFTE tripled the number of students reached annually, doubled earned income, and raised an additional $22 million to invest in maximizing impact. NFTE is increasingly recognized for its innovative curriculum, high-impact programs, peer-led teacher training model, and pioneering research on the entrepreneurial mindset. NFTE has also deepened its collaboration with industry, emerging as a thought leader on youth entrepreneurship, workforce development, and the future of work.
Peter J. Boni, Chairman of the NFTE Board of Directors, said, "The Board accepts this resignation with deep regret. Shawn has accomplished a great deal in the past four years, setting NFTE on a path to increased reach, impact, and sustainability. But we respect the need to put family first. We thank Shawn for his service and wish him all the best. He leaves the organization well-positioned for continued growth and able to deliver on the vision of activating an entire generation of young entrepreneurs."
Boni added, "We are very confident in the talented senior leadership team Shawn put in place. They continue executing on the NFTE 2022 strategic plan with our full support."
NFTE's Board of Directors has engaged Viewcrest Advisors, a leader in nonprofit executive search, to conduct a national search for a new chief executive officer.
