NJ Clean Communities Council Honors Clifton Mayor James Anzaldi
CLIFTON, N.J. (PRWEB) August 22, 2018 -- The mayor, and chair of Clifton’s clean communities committee, launched a voluntary “Adopt A Ramp” program to combat the unsightly issues near and along U.S. Route 46 and state Routes 3, 19 and 20 that run through Clifton.
Today, many residents, civic groups and area businesses continue to maintain and beautify over 50 once-neglected sites. And, for his successful long-term effort, the N.J. Clean Communities Council (NJCCC) recently honored Mayor Anzaldi with its “Adopt A Ramp Award.”
“Mayor Anzaldi clearly takes great pride in his city and, in the early 1990s, he created a forward-looking, cost-efficient way to address its most neglected areas. In doing so, he engaged Clifton residents an outstanding community-wide cleanup effort,” said NJCCC Executive Director Sandy Huber.
“It’s very rewarding to see our program grow tremendously over the years,” said Anzaldi. “Many people and groups who adopt ramps also help remove roadside litter. Some plant flowers and (flowering) shrubs, to make these areas more attractive.”
“It’s wonderful to have so many people engaged and voluntarily pitching in to help make our community a more attractive place to live and work,” said Anzaldi.
Alfred DuBois, the city’s retiring public works director, says at one time or another since the early 1990s more than 200 volunteers, including community groups, landscapers and other businesses, have adopted cleanup areas.
