NYICD Pharmacy Technician Course is Now an ASHP Accreditation Candidate
NEW YORK (PRWEB) January 07, 2019 -- The New York Institute of Career Development’s online Pharmacy Technician Course is now a candidate for accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
ASHP is a professional organization that represents pharmacists nationwide. The organization’s 45,000 members include pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
As of July 2018, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) released revised national standards meant to serve as a guide for the development of pharmacy technician education and training programs. These standards will become national requirements for pharmacy technician training programs starting January 1, 2019.
These new standards are meant to hold educational providers accountable for student outcomes. They ensure that pharmacy technicians possess the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for their role in the healthcare industry. The revised standards place additional emphasis on the capabilities of students as well as the methods used by training programs to assess competency.
By attending an ASHP-accredited school, Pharmacy Technician students will meet all industry standards of qualification to work in the United States upon graduation.
Not only that, all NYICD graduates are fully prepared to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Per the ASHP’s new standards of accreditation, the PTCB exam will become the predominantly-recognized qualification sought by employers in the healthcare industry.
Every student who attends the NYICD Pharmacy Technician course gains access to a team of professional mentors. These mentors will help graduates prepare for this exam and provide testing location information. In addition, the school will cover all fees associated with the PTCB exam. By becoming PTCB certified in addition to attending an ASHP-accredited school, graduates can rest assured they’ve taken all possible steps to build the most qualified resume possible.
“Our ultimate mission here at the New York Institute of Career Development is to ensure our students are the most qualified candidates for the careers they will be pursuing upon graduation,” says Keith Gallagher, School Director. “We are committed to ensuring our courses meet any and all industry standards available. We’re proud to add ASHP accreditation to that list.”
