New GRAPHALLOY® Bearing Grade with EU Food Contact Compliance
Yonkers, New York (PRWEB) May 08, 2023 -- Graphite Metallizing Corporation, the manufacturers of self-lubricating GRAPHALLOY® (http://www.graphalloy.com) bearings, announce the compliance of GRAPHALLOY® Grade GM 669P with the provisions of Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004. Through testing, the material was confirmed to meet the Council of Europe’s guidance on metals and alloys used in food contact materials.
GRAPHALLOY Bearings continue to solve problems in food equipment applications. GRAPHALLOY bearings can withstand washdown and caustic environments, can operate dry or submerged, and can handle extremely low and high temperatures (-240°C to +535°C). Successful applications include ovens, flash freeze conveyors, produce conveyors, roasters, fryers, and dryers.
GRAPHALLOY bearings are self-lubricating and do not require re-greasing, eliminating maintenance of bearings in tough-to-reach locations such as tunnel ovens. This also eliminates oil and grease contamination.
The GRAPHALLOY material is available in pillow block assemblies, flange block assemblies, and plain bearings. Housings are available in cast iron and stainless steel.
FDA acceptable grades of GRAPHALLOY are available for food contact equipment. NSF® International has certified two grades of GRAPHALLOY material for use in municipal well pumps and water treatment plant applications. There is also a WRAS-approved GRAPHALLOY grade.
GRAPHALLOY, a graphite/metal alloy, offers superior performance in hundreds of applications. In some applications, GRAPHALLOY bearings have operated for up to 20 years without maintenance. Standard designs are available, but most GRAPHALLOY products are custom designed to the unique requirements of the specific application. Graphite Metallizing Corporation is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
