Pixelmatic Reveals Security Token and Key Hires for Infinite Fleet
Game studio Pixelmatic to leverage Bitcoin Liquid sidechain for security token
SHANGHAI, June 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pixelmatic, the game studio led by Samson Mow, award-winning game developer and long time bitcoin advocate, recently announced a new security token to fundraise for the development of its upcoming game Infinite Fleet during New York Blockchain Week.
Infinite Fleet is an online space strategy game in which millions of players will work together to fend off an alien threat. The game will provide players with the depth and social interactions of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games such as World of Warcraft, while integrating a cryptocurrency to power its in-game economy.
Pixelmatic is implementing a "dual token" model, with investor funding raised from the sale of the company's security token, and the Infinite Fleet game using the "INF" utility token as a game currency. Players may earn INF through participating in in-game events and accomplishing quests, and subsequently use INF in the Infinite Fleet Marketplace: a market for trading in-game digital assets.
Both the security token and the INF token will be issued on Bitcoin's sidechain, the Liquid Network. Liquid is an inter-exchange settlement network and asset issuance blockchain, providing fast, secure, and confidential transactions.
Pixelmatic is also excited to announce the expansion of its team with two major hires to spearhead the development of Infinite Fleet.
The company's new Chief Creative Officer, Jason Lee, was previously the lead designer at Relic Entertainment. Jason led game design on the Age of Empires 4 project, which is a major upcoming title in the monumental Age of Empires series published by Microsoft.
"One of the greatest lessons I'm taking from Relic to Pixelmatic and Infinite Fleet is to have the gameplay and story support each other, to lead the player through a truly immersive, epic sci-fi adventure," said Jason Lee.
Pixelmatic also brought in veteran game designer Damon Gauthier, who is from the original Homeworld team and previously at BioWare, the company behind the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series. Homeworld is one of the most innovative and highly acclaimed titles of all time in the real-time strategy (RTS) game genre.
Pixelmatic's other team members currently hail from a number of triple-A games studios including Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bethesda, Nintendo, Disney, CCP, and many more. The company also worked with Super Evil Megacorp for technical operations of their award winning game "Vainglory" across Asia.
The CEO of Pixelmatic, Samson Mow, worked on some of the most critically acclaimed strategy games of all time including Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. He is also heavily involved in the bitcoin space as Blockstream's Chief Strategy Officer. Blockstream is the leading provider of blockchain technologies, on the forefront of work in cryptography and distributed systems.
