SSL.com Approved as Exclusive NAESB Authorized Certification Authority
On August 1, 2018 SSL.com was named an approved NAESB Authorized Certification Authority (ACA), thereby becoming part of an exclusive network of trusted Certification Authorities, tasked with facilitating the Energy Industry's demands for secure digital authentication of its users and devices.
HOUSTON, Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SSL.com is the newest of only 4 NAESB ACAs as it has met the requirements set forth in the NAESB WEQ-012 PKI Business Practice Standards and accompanying Accreditation Specification ("WEQ-012 PKI Standards"). The WEQ-012 PKI Standards, initially developed by the NAESB PKI Sub-Committee and now maintained by the NAESB Cyber Security Sub-Committee, define requirements for digital certificates used by the North American energy industry.
Following an exhaustive examination, a third party independent auditing firm confirmed that SSL.com complies with the WEQ-012 PKI Standards. This is evidence of the security and reliability of SSL.com's digital certificates and their underlying controls, practices and procedures. As an ACA, SSL.com offers digital certificates for access to NAESB's Electronic Industry Registry (EIR), OASIS, and E-Tagging applications.
Leo Grove, President and CEO of SSL.com stated, "This certification matches other commitments we have made to improve cyber security standards in the industry through better authentication of its users and devices. SSL.com's expertise uniquely positions us to provide digital certificates to the major energy markets and other industry applications which are expected to require implementation of ACA digital certificates in the near future (per FERC Order 676-H)."
NAESB President Rae McQuade added, "We are thrilled to not only have SSL.com as a new member of the organization but also as an Authorized Certificate Authority (ACA) participating in the NAESB Certification Program. SSL.com joined NAESB in March of last year and has become extremely active in a number of standards development activities focused on cybersecurity and technology that impact the wholesale and retail natural gas and electric markets. Their expertise in these areas and the perspectives they are sharing with the various NAESB committees and subcommittees has been exciting."
