Seager Marine Honored With a 2021 Business Inspiration Award
Company receives the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce Visionary of the Year Award
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y., April 14, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Seager Marine, a marine dealer and full-service marina, located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, has been recognized by the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce with a 2021 Business Inspiration Award.
Seager Marine was honored with the Chamber's Visionary of the Year Award. The Visionary of the Year Award recognizes a firm, nonprofit or entrepreneur who has inspired others through their major capital investment in facilities construction or improvement, retooling, expansion of operations with the intent to retain and ideally increase employment and/or business opportunities in the community.
John Holland and Peter Coons purchased Seager Marine in 2019, with the vision to transform the property on the pier to a modern facility, offering retail, food, drink, and a casual club-like setting for its customers. The company's updates and investments resulted in the creation of twenty-plus seasonal jobs and six year-round full-time positions. The goal is to continue this trend and add jobs as the business lines grow.
"Last year we added boat, paddleboard, and kayak rentals to allow for greater public access to the lake," said Peter Coons, Co-owner and President of Seager Marine. "We also added a Freedom Boat Club franchise to the Pier location. Members of the boat club have access to a fleet of boats at Seager Marine and over 250 locations across the US and Europe for a monthly fee."
The boat showroom was relocated from the City Pier to Parrish Street, to a new state-of-the-art 7,000 square foot showroom and a new service center was constructed, adding 5,000 square feet of workspace. At the marina, two garages were completely transformed into retail facilities. SideShore offers clothing, wake and surf boards, life jackets, and other lake activity-related gear. The second garage at 810 South Main was converted to a deli called Ship to Shore, offering sandwiches, snacks, and beverages to customers and the public.
The Chamber will present the awards at the Virtual Business Inspiration Awards, sponsored by Lyons National Bank, on May 21, 2021 via Zoom.
