Stories from the Golden Age Celebrates 10th Anniversary at San Diego ComicCon
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (PRWEB) July 26, 2018 -- Whether dressed as their favorite comic book or movie character or simply walking the convention show floor, readers from San Diego Comic Con to as far away as the Cairo Book Fair in Egypt have been drawn to the bright book covers, reminiscent of the pulp magazines of America’s Golden Age of Fiction. With more demand than ever for L. Ron Hubbard’s Stories from the Golden Age—sales of more than 2.5 million copies—Galaxy Press is celebrating a renaissance in pulp fiction as the series reaches its 10th anniversary.
But it hasn’t just been at events such as Comic Con. Fans from around the world and all walks of life have been drawn not just to the brilliant cover artwork but the stories contained therein. Whether mystery, adventure, thriller, science fiction, fantasy or western, readers have rediscovered what a century ago was America’s favorite form of entertainment. They have also become acquainted with one of the 20th century’s most prolific and popular authors, L. Ron Hubbard.
“It is interesting to note,” stated John Goodwin President of Galaxy Press, “that many of Hollywood’s most successful blockbusters have either been based on or inspired by stories written by such celebrated authors as Edgar Rice Burroughs (John Carter of Mars), Lester Dent (Doc Savage), Philip K. Dick (The Man in the High Castle), Walter B. Gibson (The Shadow) and L. Ron Hubbard (Fear, Battlefield Earth).” Even the comic blockbusters of today find their roots in the pulp magazines of the early 20th century where over 30 million Americans awaited the next issue of their favorite pulp magazines. Before “Batman” there was “The Shadow” and before “Superman: The Man of Steel,” there was “Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze.”
“Hollywood has long known the treasure trove these Golden Age stories contained,” Goodwin stated, “now we are seeing the reader becoming more and more cognizant of this fact—witness this year’s Comic Con.”
Stories from the Golden Age contain 153 stories written by L. Ron Hubbard that have been published in 80 volumes, in a wide spectrum of genres, including adventure, western, mystery, detective, fantasy, science fiction and even some romance, using his own and 15 pen names.
