Students Around the Globe Receive Diplomas from International Connections Academy
COLUMBIA, Md. (PRWEB) July 09, 2018 -- International Connections Academy (iNaCA), a US-based accredited virtual private school, honored 122 graduating high school seniors from the US and abroad as the school marked 10 years serving students. Friends, family, teachers and administrators tuned in to the virtual graduation ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of this impressive senior class.
The Class of 2018 graduates are as diverse in their geographies as they are in their future plans. In addition to the United States, graduates represented the countries of Vietnam, India, Denmark, El Salvador, Mexico, Pakistan and several others. Of the group, 73 percent plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college or university, 12 percent plan to begin working and 7 percent will continue to pursue their dreams in sports or the arts. Those who have chosen to continue their education have been awarded an impressive $5.9 million in scholarship funds, and will be pursuing their degrees at esteemed universities including University of California at San Diego, University of Florida, University of Oklahoma, Scripps College, University of Georgia, University of California at Los Angeles, Pepperdine University and many more.
“Year after year, I am continually impressed with how much our graduating seniors have accomplished thus far in their lives,” said Principal Hannah Rinehart. “On behalf of all our administrators and teachers, I wish these graduates the best in their next chapter and know they are fully prepared to succeed no matter the endeavor.”
International Connections Academy’s Class of 2018 valedictorian, Addie Holmes, enrolled in the online private school at the beginning of her high school career, when a serious health diagnosis was holding her back from attending a brick-and-mortar school. Addie was incredibly successful during her high school years despite taking time off for several surgeries. This fall, she will begin at the University of Georgia on a pre-med track through the university’s honors program. Addie dreams of becoming a surgeon after she completes her education.
“The biggest advantage of International Connections Academy for me was the flexibility of it all,” she said. “I had the ability to work on my schoolwork around the time I spent in the hospital, and I had the opportunity to take advanced courses.”
