‘Death of a Mill Girl’ Back in Limited-Print Run
ANNANDALE, Va. (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- While living in New England, author Clyde Linsley was inspired by the American Industrial Revolution and its impact on the region. In “Death of a Mill Girl: A Josiah Beede Mystery” (published by iUniverse), he explores life, death and mystery during the era in the first historical mystery novel in the “Josiah Beede” trilogy.
When the titular character discovers the body of a young woman in one of his fallow fields, he sets out to investigate her death and the connection it has to the nearby textile mill. Set in New England in 1836, the story takes a look at the treatment of workers during the Industrial Revolution.
“Having good intentions isn’t enough to avoid disaster,” Linsley explains. “The mill owners thought they could do industrialization with fewer bad results than the British. Human nature got in the way, however.”
Now back in print for a limited time, “Death of a Mill Girl” is Linsley’s effort to explore an “interesting period in U.S. history that Americans don’t’ know a lot about, and a time we know little about.”
