AAHOA Congratulates Senator McConnell’s Election as Majority Leader
(PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) congratulates Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on his unanimous election as the Majority Leader of the United States Senate for the 114th Congress.
Senator McConnell has been a longtime champion for the rights of small business owners and has become a good friend with hoteliers across Kentucky and the United States.
“In Kentucky, we are thrilled about Senator McConnell’s election as majority leader. His position will have far-reaching benefits for the Mid-South region and for all AAHOA members,” AAHOA Director at Large and Kentuckian Ketan Patel said. “As a friend of the hospitality industry, McConnell already is pushing for legislation that will benefit AAHOA members and all small business owners.”
In one of his first actions after the Nov. 4 general elections, Senator McConnell promised to push forward legislation that would restore the definition of full-time employment to the traditional 40-hour work week. This would benefit small business owners, who are negatively impacted by the current full-time definition of 30 hours per week under the Affordable Care Act.
“AAHOA is proud to support Senator McConnell and his agenda focused on private sector job creation, fiscal responsibility and long-term economic growth,” AAHOA Chairman Pratik Patel said.
Founded in 1989, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), is the largest hotel owners association in the world, with more than 13,600 small business owner-members. AAHOA members own more than 20,000 properties amounting to more than 40 percent of all hotels in the United States and employ nearly 600,000 workers, accounting for more than $9.4 billion in payroll annually.
