Aboff’s Paint Celebrates 85th Anniversary
Huntington, NY (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- Aboff’s Paint is celebrating its 85th anniversary of family-owned paint and decorating service in Long Island this year. The first Aboff’s Paint Store opened in 1929 in Huntington, N.Y., and has grown to now include 29 paint stores in Long Island as the fourth generation of Aboff’s now carries on the business.
When David and Beatrice Aboff first opened Aboff’s White Paint Store in 1929, paint only came in white and often had to be delivered to homes by horse-drawn carriage. By the 1940s, Aboff’s opened a second store in Huntington Station before expanding to East Northport in 1959. In 1964, they opened a fourth store in Centereach. By this time, Aboff’s sons Melvin and Herbert had joined him in running the business.
Aboff’s made a big expansion in the 1990s when they acquired the chain of Orange Front Paint stores. They later added seven Janovic Paint stores. They added their latest location in 2013 to bring the total to 29 and they are still looking to grow. The fourth generation of the Aboff family proudly carries on the family tradition into its 85th year.
