Accident Results in a Mutilated Police Cruiser
Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- At about 6am the morning of September 11, 2013, Daniel Rivera, 32, lost control of his Broward County Sheriff's cruiser and struck a tree. The vehicle was mangled from the passenger side. This accident happened off Interstate 95 and the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, CBS reported.
"It is always unfortunate to see these damages done and the road conditions were a factor that caused the accident," stated Steinger.
The accident happened near Copans Road and the Atlantic Avenue exit as Rivera was en route to the police station according to CBS.
"The road conditions were very slick, and it is not confirmed that the road conditions caused the accident- this is where contacting a personal injury attorney could be helpful," commented Steinger.
After the accident occurred, traffic was bumper to bumper and many area employers stated that employees were showing up about an hour late, according to CBS Local (9.11.13).
"When an accident like this happens it often times involves other vehicles to be affected and a personal injury attorney can help in a situation like this," stated Michael Steinger of Steinger, Iscoe & Greene.
As reported on CBS, since the vehicle was equipped with a communications specialist, it called the ambulance immediately and Rivera was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. After suffering life-threatening injuries, Rivera remained in critical condition for ten days.
According to the Sun Sentinel (9.23.13), Deputy Daniel Rivera passed on September 21, 2013, ten days after the accident. Funeral arrangements are being made and Rivera leaves behind a 14-year-old son and many other relatives.
Deputy Rivera was a Sheriff's officer, assigned to the Pompano Beach District for ten years, according to Officer Down Memorial Page. Rivera was described by friends as a "good man and a dedicated officer who enjoyed working out and staying fit," according to CBS Local (9.11.13).
