ACHC Launches New Accreditation for Convenient Care Clinics
Cary, NC (PRWEB) August 30, 2017 -- Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Accreditation for Convenient Care Clinics. As a service under the ACHC Ambulatory Care Program, the Convenient Care Clinic Accreditation has been tailored to specifically address the nuances present in affordable walk-in clinics that are free standing or located in retail stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies. These clinics treat minor illnesses, provide preventative healthcare services, and are staffed by nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants.
“ACHC applauds organizations that are examining more cost-efficient ways of providing quality health care,” said Teresa Harbour, ACHC Program Director. “Our Convenient Care Clinic standards provide a solid base for retail clinics as they becoming a larger part of the healthcare delivery system.”
On April 19, 2017, WellSpan Health became the first organization to earn ACHC Accreditation for Convenient Care Clinics. WellSpan Health is an integrated health system that serves the communities of central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. The organization comprises a multi-specialty medical group of more than 1,200 physicians and advanced practice clinicians, a regional behavioral health organization, a home care organization, six respected hospitals, more than 15,000 employees, and more than 130 patient care locations. WellSpan is a charitable, mission-driven organization, committed to exceptional care for all, lifelong wellness, and healthy communities.
“Working with ACHC was an incredibly positive experience. From the time we began the survey process through the onsite, it was a collaborative process,” said Amy Lafko, WellSpan Operations Administrator. “During preparation, we could reach out for clarification and assistance to ensure we met the standards. When the Surveyor was onsite, it felt like colleagues sharing best practices. I know that the patient care we provide has reached a new level due to this survey.”
