APR is the largest Bay Area real estate firm to test the new system. Matterport, a Mountain View start-up, is an expert in computer vision technology and specializes in creating 3-D photographic models that can quickly and easily be captured and experienced. With Matterport 3-D Showcase, APR agents are able to showcase a property in an immersive environment that is like being there, offering a state-of-the-art experience for homebuyers and an effective marketing vehicle for home sellers.

Matterport makes it easy for anyone to create immersive 3-D models of spaces that can be experienced and shared online. The Matterport system uses a patented camera, controlled through a simple capture app running on the user’s Apple iPad, to capture 3-D images that are quickly processed by the Matterport cloud system into complete 3-D models of the space. The Matterport 3-D Showcase application then provides an immersive photo-perfect experience, allowing clients to walk through the interior as if they were really there. Potential buyers can also view a property in a top-down “dollhouse” view, or see a floor plan through Matterport’s immersive online interface.
