Allen Technologies to Introduce Interactive Patient System Tablet that Increases Patient Engagement
Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- As hospitals struggle to better educate and engage patients in their own care, Allen Technologies is introducing a new interactive solution that significantly increases patient engagement and improves hospital efficiency. The comprehensive tablet system is deployed on a Panasonic Toughpad A1 and offers direct access to medical record information that is easy to read and understand by the end user – the patient. The interactive solution provides enhanced patient education programming as well as the ability to register for and access a secure website for post discharge hospital information.
“As an innovator in improving high-quality, patient-centered care, Northern Westchester Hospital has recently launched bedside tablets that enable patients to access aspects of their medical record, view their clinical team and credentials, review dietary guidelines and menu selections and even control amenities and make requests for special services. The uniquely designed touch screen solution created with Allen Technologies helps to educate and inform patients about the care they receive, thereby empowering the patients and their families to become active participants in their healthcare,” stated Maria Hale, Vice President, Patient Advocacy & Patient Centered Support Services at Northern Westchester Hospital.
Northern Westchester Hospital, a multi award-winning Planetree and Magnet Hospital, has partnered with Allen Technologies to create an innovative patient-centered design and deployment of the new tablets. Two of the hospital's executives will be on hand at HIMSS2014 in Orlando next week to talk about how this new interactive patient system has transformed the patient experience, fosters greater understanding and allows patients the ability to take control of their health and recovery. Ms. Hale along with Maureen Lopez, Director, Clinical Information Systems will be speaking in the Allen Technologies Booth (#8057) on Tuesday, February 25 at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, and 1:00 pm. They will present a live case study for the complete solution and demonstrate several key features such as:
• what medications have been prescribed and why
• allergies information
• explanations of potential medication side effects
• graphical user-friendly displays of vital signs, and certain lab results,
• special procedures ordered and their status
• expected discharge timeframe with tips to prepare for transition and recovery
• how to access the patient health record after discharge
