Amarone Families Celebrate a Weekend of Successes and Awards
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 26, 2015 -- The Association of Amarone Families, comprised of the 12 most prestigious producers of the Veneto’s signature red wine, organized successful events for the NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) 40th anniversary and at the Italian Embassy this weekend. This past Saturday, the association received recognition from the NIAF as a symbol of Italian wine excellence in the world following an exclusive tasting organized for NIAF members. On Monday, nearly 170 members of the press and trade came to the Italian Embassy to attend a guided tasting of select Amarone vintages, as well as a walk-around tasting.
The weekend also marked other successes for the Amarone Families. In Italy, eight out of twelve producers received the “Tre Bicchieri” (three glasses) award, a rating that indicates excellence, released by the premier Italian wine guide, Gambero Rosso. Of these, Allegrini also won “Winery of the Year.”
“The ‘Appassimento” technique makes Amarone stand out from any other denomination,” commented Marilisa Allegrini, President of the Amarone Families. “Amarone is a complex, unique wine whose story must be told. I thank all wine trade and consumers who appreciate our wine and support our promotional efforts. The US market is the most important one for Italian wine and it’s critical to keep doing educational activities with key players in the market.”
