American College of Education Announces American Teacher Scholarship Winners
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- American College of Education, a high quality online college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, has awarded its American Teacher Scholarship to four outstanding educators: Patricia Peral of Orlando, Florida; Carla Pesce of Windsor, North Carolina; Jessica Smith of Gretna, Louisiana; and Philip Church of Bartlett, Illinois.
The American Teacher Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship designed to help educators attain the specialized training they need to advance to leadership positions and make a difference in their school systems. The scholarships will help these educators to further their careers at a time where rising tuition costs increasingly present barriers to educational advancement. American College of Education programs are affordable for most educators at just $7,955 for full program tuition, a fraction of the cost of comparable accredited online degree programs.
Each scholarship recipient plans to make a unique contribution to the field of education—two of them in the area of digital technology. As an online institution, American College of Education is attracting a number of educators with virtual or online school backgrounds who are seeking innovative programs that emphasize digital learning and teaching.
Patricia Peral of Florida Virtual School in Orlando, Florida, teaches Spanish and plans to promote student-centered education. She works to “[encourage] whole-person growth by integrating technology and literacy into the curriculum and reaching students through the media that catch their attention.”
Carla Pesce of Windsor, North Carolina, works in a Title I school and encourages all of her students to maximize their learning potential based upon their academic level. “Earning this scholarship will be a huge stepping stone in [my] work with students and in helping them achieve greater things in their lives,” said Pesce.
Jessica Smith is an elementary educator from Gretna, Louisiana. She aims to engage her students with interactive and effective educational practices, while inspiring a love for learning. “I truly thank you for your support in helping me grow as an educator as I help my students grow as learners,” said Smith.
Philip Church is a veteran biology teacher from Barlett High School in Elgin, Illinois. He has transitioned to a virtually paper-free class as his students use digital cameras, flip cameras, iPads, and multiple internet resources as their tools of choice to complete class assignments. He is recognized as an educator who extends himself beyond the four walls of his classroom. Church believes that, “Inspiration and motivation build innovation.”
All four educators will begin online Master of Education degree programs at American College of Education in the fall.
