APSP Awards Industry's Premier Builders Award to Dal Pino & Johnson
Las Vegas (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) has recognized Dick Dal Pino and Dan Johnson as 2013's recipients of the CBP Certified Building Professional® of the Year Award.
The CBP of the Year Award, now in its seventh year, is given annually to a CBP who has advanced the pool building profession through outstanding achievements and dedication to the industry. This is the first time in the award's history that two candidates have shared the honor.
Dal Pino and Johnson received this peer-nominated award during the 2013 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
"APSP is extremely pleased to honor Dick Dal Pino and Dan Johnson as recipients of the 2013 CBP of the Year Award," APSP President and CEO Rich Gottwald said. "Both men are committed to elevating the pool, spa and hot tub industry, whether it's through education, volunteering or advocacy.
"We applaud all that Dick and Dan have done for APSP and we are proud to add them to the illustrious list of CBP of Year award honorees."
Dal Pino, President and CEO of Dal Pino Quality Pools, Inc., has volunteered with APSP for 25 of his 26 years as a member of the association. A three-term president of the APSP Sacramento Chapter, he was a member of the APSP Board of Directors during the association's transition from the National Spa & Pool Institute (NSPI) to APSP and has served as Chairman of the APSP Builders Council.
An ardent supporter of education, Dal Pino, who has held the CBP designation since 1996, played a chief role in establishing the Foundation for Pool & Spa Industry Education (FPSIE). He also served as an editor for the third edition of the APSP Builders Manual and as a reviewer for the Service Technician Manual, fourth edition.
Johnson, owner of Swim Incorporated, is one of the nation's leading experts on drainless technology. A member of APSP since 1978, he has held a position on the APSP Technical Committee since 1995, contributed to a number of APSP Standards writing committees and has served on the APSP Board of Directors.
Inducted into the Florida Swimming Pool Association Hall of Fame in 2009, Johnson continues to promote advocacy and education across the industry as an APSP instructor and government liaison.
"Dan Johnson and Dick Dal Pino exemplify leadership," APSP Senior Director of Technical and Standards Carvin DiGiovanni said. "These men are successful builders who have selflessly given back to this industry through countless hours of volunteer service at all levels. This is a deserved recognition for both men."
APSP's CBP designation is earned through a standardized written examination that measures knowledge of residential and commercial pool and spa construction. Applicants for the designation must meet industry experience requirements and, once the designation is earned, participate in ongoing education to maintain the certification. The program emphasizes a commitment to ethical standards and to the highest standards of construction and workmanship through adherence to national pool and spa standards.
Johnson and Dal Pino join a prestigious list of past winners that includes: Jeff Mitchell, CBP, Dynasty Pools; Tommy Johnson, CBP, CSP, Johnson Pools & Spas; Lew Akins, CBP, Ocean Quest Pools by Lew Akins; John C.
