Aquatic Therapy Shoulder Rehab Exercises Showcased in Live Webcast Offered by HydroWorx
Middletown, PA (PRWEB) October 27, 2014 -- It isn’t until the shoulder is injured that most people realize how valuable this ball-and-socket joint is to everyday and sports activities. From reaching for a can of soup on a high shelf to throwing a baseball at record speeds, the shoulder plays a pivotal role in the way we live. Unfortunately, it often falls prey to a myriad of diseases and conditions. As per the National Institutes of Health, common shoulder complaints include dislocation, separation, rotator cuff disease and tears, fractures and arthritic conditions. These medical issues leave millions of individuals of all ages without the required range of motion to perform ordinary – as well as extraordinary – tasks. For many advanced physical therapy professionals and athletic trainers, promoting rehab in a HydroWorx therapy pool outfitted with underwater treadmill, resistance jets and more is the ideal way to support a healthy return to daily and athletic activities for athletes and patients.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 1-2 p.m. EDT, a live webcast from a HydroWorx therapy pool will be presented by Coastal Carolina University Associate Athletic Trainer/Rehab Coordinator Barry Lippman, MS, ATC, NASM-PES. This streaming event, “Strategies to Perfect Upper Body Rehab Outcomes with Aquatic Therapy” will discuss and showcase the modalities that Lippman and other industry experts have utilized to help their athletes recover from shoulder injuries, shoulder diseases and other shoulder-related limitations. During the one-hour webcast, participants will have the opportunity to see firsthand how they can safely and efficiently improve athlete performance post-shoulder problems.
“Strategies to Perfect Upper Body Rehab Outcomes with Aquatic Therapy” has been strategically created for audiences who want to help those in their care using the most advanced technologies at their disposals. Not only will Lippman hone in on systematic approaches to upper body training in the therapy pool, but he will also discuss the scientific properties of water that make underwater exercising and rehab a powerful tool to getting men, women and children back in the game… whether it’s a sports game or the “game of life.” For example, the topic of effective scapular stabilization will be addressed, as the scapula has been shown to have an enormous connection in terms of shoulder rehabilitation progressions and regressions. Though this webcast has a focus on late-term rehab techniques, many of the methodologies Lippman will present can be utilized earlier in the rehabilitation process.
Another major issue covered during the free event will include the best practices to work around contraindications to provide effective outcomes. The goal of the physical or occupational therapist or athletic trainer to help athletes gain and maintain their upper body strength with minimal residual discomfort will also be addressed.
Attendees of “Strategies to Perfect Upper Body Rehab Outcomes with Aquatic Therapy” have two choices to experience the information that will be given: They can participate in person at the Coastal Carolina University HydroWorx pool in Conway, South Carolina, or they can watch via the Internet. Those who choose to come in person should bring a towel and proper bathing attire, if they would like to try the pool.
The webcast, like many HydroWorx webinars and online events, is applicable for continuing education credits for those who attend the live webcast in its entirety. Currently, athletic trainers can obtain one CEU through BOC. All other attendees who wish to apply for continuing education credit from their certification agency are encouraged to petition the agency for CEUs.
