Art, Fashion, and Fun to Cure Debilitating Headaches
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 06, 2015 -- The reputable fashion and fine men’s apparel store, Norton Ditto, hosted its ArtFest 2015, Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and an intimate art showing of local artists including Kirby Attwell, Lenoir Josey, Anne Kinder, Jacki McCreary, Kim Clark Renteria, Robert Ross, and Barbara Vaughan. Pieces by each artist were on exhibit for sale, with an impressive 30% of the artwork proceeds, as well as an additional 30% of all Norton Ditto clothing and gift card sales made the evening of the event donated to The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation.
“ArtFest 2015 was a huge success. Over 350 of Houston’s finest visited the store to view the artwork of eight outstanding local artists and to support The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation. I am pleased that we raised over $20,000, however, the more important achievement was awareness created around the Foundation and the critical need for headache research,” stated Owner and CEO of Norton Ditto, Dick Hite.
Founded in May 2014 by Jimmy Erwin, The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation has partnered with both the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and the University of Texas Health Science Center to support essential research dedicated to finding a cure for all debilitating headaches.
“Norton Ditto’s generous donation of over $20,000 will help provide The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation the necessary funding that is imperative to debilitating headache research conducted by Memorial Hermann Health System and UTHealth Medical School,” said Jimmy Erwin, President and Founder. “This will help achieve our mission to bring relief to debilitating headache sufferers worldwide.”
After years of suffering from debilitating headaches, the Erwins' lost their son, Will, in 2010 at the age of 24. With debilitating headaches affecting 12% of the population and only .03% of funding allocated to headache and migraine research, Jimmy and Pam Erwin stepped into action to help other headache sufferers, creating The Foundation in the memory of their son. It has been an emotional journey, but with support from companies like Norton Ditto The Foundation will achieve its mission.
As a component fund of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, donations to The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation can be made at http://www.cureheadaches.org.
