ASDS Awards Grants for Clinical Research
Rolling Meadows, Ill. (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery has awarded more than $80,000 in grants for clinical research. Topics range from skin cancer treatments to the role of the non-physicians in the practice of dermatology to the implications of the Affordable Health Care law on managing skin cancer.
The Cutting Edge Research Grant program unites education and innovation to encourage clinical research and the transfer of new technologies from the research setting to surgical practice.
“These grants sustain our mission to foster, support, develop and encourage investigative knowledge in dermatologic surgery,” said ASDS President George J. Hruza, M.D., MBA. “The research projects either advance the practice of dermatologic surgery, stimulate the invention of new technologies or document the outstanding work of dermatologic surgeons.”
Grant recipients and their research projects include:
• Derek Chan, M.D. (Ohio State University): Efficacy of Mohs Micrographic Surgery in Immunosuppressed Patients with Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinomas.
