Athlete Network CEO Chris Smith Speaks at 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Summit
Washington D.C. (PRWEB) October 04, 2016 -- Athlete Network Founder and CEO Chris Smith was a guest speaker Friday night at the 2016 Athlete Career & Education (ACE) summit in Washington D.C. Mr. Smith addressed a large contingent of Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Team USA as they prepare to transition out of sports. The Athlete Network CEO focused his presentation on key tips for the athletes to use while networking themselves for future employment or speaking opportunities.
“It was a tremendous honor to be invited to speak at the 2016 Summit,” said Smith. “These are the world’s elite athletes and the traits they have acquired competing at the highest level will serve them well as they transition out of their Olympic careers. It is a privilege for Athlete Network to be able to assist the USOC ACE team with their technology and participate at events, such as the summit.”
"My two favorite parts of the weekend were meeting President Obama and your presentation,"said Jeff Butler, Paralympian, Wheelchair Rugby.
The goal of the Olympic & Paralympic Summit is to provide an interactive experience for these athletes with tangible takeaways on the next step in their professional or athletic careers. Throughout the event, athletes had the opportunity to work on personal and professional development by attending workshops, networking with industry professionals, and participating in one-on-one discussions. Smith also facilitated one of the workshops entitled “Find Your Professional Identity.”
The Summit was held September 29 - October 1 in Washington D.C. at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. It was attended by over 200 Olympic and Paralympic athletes as well as various ACE staff members. Former gold medal Olympian Carl Lewis gave the Keynote Address at the Welcome Dinner Thursday evening.
