Bielat Santore & Company - Eye on the Shore
Allenhurst, NJ (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- Tragedy has struck again at the Jersey Shore as crowds gathered on Thursday afternoon watching the newly restored Seaside Heights Boardwalk engulfed in flames. After Hurricane Sandy destroyed much of the coast less than a year ago, friends and families looked on at what was left of a place that holds so many fond memories for generations, destroyed once again.
Due to the impending smoke and heavy winds, nearby residents were forced to evacuate from the area as the wind pushed the fire down the boardwalk devouring business after business. It took 400 firefighters several days to contain the flames. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie declared a state of emergency with damage expected to be nearly $2,000,000. Shocked New Jersey shore residents branded as being “Stronger than the Storm” are now faced with rebuilding again in hopes that the boardwalk can rise again. The fire overcame 50 businesses that had recently reopened after surviving the storm.
The businesses ravaged by the fire include: Angie’s Alley, The Beach Bar, The Beachcomber Bar and Grill, Berkeley Sweet Shop, Big Hearted John’s, Biscayne Candies, Bubba’s Dog House, The Carousel Arcade, The Crepe Hut, Dippin Dots, Fun Jewelry, Funtown Amusement Pier, Game Room, Gee Enterprises, Kupper’s French Fries, Kohr’s Frozen Custard (where the fire began), Jack-N-Bills Bar, Lily’s Apparel, Livingston Carnival Games, Maruca’s Tomato Pies, Music Sound, Nisha’s Accessories, Off the Hook, One of a Kind Clothing, Palm readings by Cynthia Kaslov, Park Seafood, Playboy Carnival Games, Prince Eyebrows, Quick Stop, Rita’s Water Ice, Rush Clothing Shop, Sand Tropez South, The Sawmill, Seaside Steakhouse, Seaside Surf Shack, Shoot the Geek, Stevie D’s Arcade, Street Corner, Three Brothers from Italy Pizza, Union Jack Carnival Games.
Let’s all keep these businesses, business owners and employees in our thoughts and prayers as they begin their second struggle to survive another disaster to the Seaside Boardwalk.
