Boomerang Buildings Facilitate LEED Credits for Sustainability-Minded Customers
Memphis, Tennessee (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- Boomerang Buildings, provider of temporary steel buildings for construction sites, industrial facilities, and commercial applications, announced this week the immediate availability of structures that enable customers to more readily achieve LEED credits.
Specifically, customers may target the “Building Reuse” LEED credit, representing one LEED point potential in MRc3. This credit applies to structures that have been erected before. Each Boomerang building is carefully deconstructed after each use, and its elements are then repurposed in other applications.
Customers may also seek the “Construction Waste Management” credit, which represents a 1-2 LEED point potential in MRc2. Once Boomerang structures reach the end of their lifespan, they are recycled—after selective deconstruction—through local recycling centers, mills, or smelters.
“Temporary used to be synonymous with disposable,” said Beth Wilson, marketing manager of Boomerang Buildings. “With Boomerang Buildings’ ‘green’ approach, the use of a temporary building can now be part of a larger approach to a LEED certified project. Construction specifiers and project managers now have a sustainable option under a short-term lease, which is considered a business expense vs. capital expenditure – a strategic financial choice for many organizations.”
In addition to designed-for-deconstruction elements, Boomerang buildings may be outfitted with Energy Star certified T5 lighting, energy-efficient CFC-free polyurethane insulated hard sides (Guardian SteelTM Walls) made from 80% recycled material. Overall Boomerang Buildings helps customers to reduce construction costs, reduce CO2 emissions, and reduce the environmental impacts of new construction. Structures can be deployed and installed in as little as 21 days within the continental United States.
