Boothwyn Pharmacy Receives Accreditation from National Board
Boothwyn, PA (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- The Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB®) today announced the accreditation of Boothwyn Pharmacy, Inc. for both sterile and non-sterile compounded medications. The accreditation is awarded in recognition of the pharmacy’s commitment to meeting and/or exceeding stringent national quality standards.
This prestigious accreditation elevates Boothwyn Pharmacy‘s compounding laboratory to join the ranks of 163 pharmacies throughout the United States. More than 7,000 compounding pharmacies exist, yet PCAB accreditation is only given to less than 2%. Rigorous protocol must be observed in addition to an extensive application process that culminates in several on-site extensive inspections.
"Achieving PCAB status means that our clients and practitioners have the knowledge that we are adhering to quality assurance safety standards that will maintain a high standard in custom compounded preparations," said Louis Micolucci, RPh, CEO. "PCAB Accreditation will reaffirm our commitment to always putting the health and well-being of our patients first."

About PCAB
As the demand for compounded medications has increased, the pharmaceutical profession saw a need for a system of standards by which each compounding pharmacy can test its quality processes. Compounding pharmacists also wanted a mechanism to allow them to know that they are producing a high quality compound, and in doing so, providing the best quality to their patients. PCAB Accreditation gives patients, prescribers and payers a way to select a pharmacy that meets or exceeds USP’s high quality standards.
