Breast Center Launches New Video Testimonials about Early Detection of Breast Cancer
Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- Montclair Breast Center was created to fulfill the vision of its Founder and Director, Dr. Nancy Elliott, by treating a patient the way she would like to be treated herself. “It’s hard to convey in words what the early detection of breast cancer and truly comprehensive breast care means to women. So I asked some of our patients who have been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer to share their stories on camera and I’m very moved by their testimony,” says Dr. Elliott. The video is available to view here: http://www.montclairbreastcenter.com.
Montclair Breast Center focuses on communication and time spent with their patients as the cornerstones of what they offer. To accomplish this, Dr. Elliott says her multidisciplinary facility, which includes physicians dedicated to breast imaging and breast surgery in a private breast hospital setting, needed to become an out-of-network facility. She feels that patient care resulting in 95% early detection, while the national average is just 60% requires care uncompromised by the restrictions and limitations of health care corporations. She suggests that health care needs to be solely dictated by the needs of patients rather than abiding by the requirements of health care corporations with standards different from those important to the Montclair Breast Center physicians. Dr. Elliott says, “We don’t want any of our patients to need chemotherapy to treat breast cancer. Our goal is the perfection of early detection and prevention of breast cancer. We’re almost there, and we continue to get better, so I wanted this video to share how we are able to achieve such extraordinary results.”
Dr. Elliott is a strong proponent of women having a dedicated breast doctor. In the Montclair Breast Center video viewable at http://www.montclairbreastcenter.com, she says women typically visit an OB/GYN physician on a regular basis, but that all the GYN cancers taken together; uterine, ovarian, cervical, etc., are just one third the incidence of breast cancer. According to Dr. Elliott, women should have a breast doctor because breast cancer is the number one killer of women, in ages 40 to 55.
Another significant factor in the early detection of breast cancer cited in the video is the experience of the radiologist reading the mammogram. Dr. Elliott says, “Women research where they get their hair done, what restaurant they go to, and they really need to pay attention to who is reading their mammogram." Dr. Elliott recommends that all women insist on seeing the credentials of the radiologist they are using for their screening mammogram, even if referred by another medical practitioner. According to Montclair Breast Center, a number of studies concur that more early stage breast cancers are detected by Fellowship trained breast imagers/specialist radiologists than by general radiologists.
The video features patients who have been treated by the breast center describing the benefits of early detection and how the centers ability to offer high technology screening is the key. Montclair Breast Center was one of the first breast centers in New Jersey to provide breast tomosynthesis or 3D mammography. They were also one of the first breast centers to offer Breast Specific MRI and Gamma Imaging. They continue to provide innovative, state-of-the-art technology to their patients because they know that it is important to always remain one step ahead.
