St. Augustine, FL (PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) introduces Heatless Crimp Splices, an ideal solution for when maintenance is required on or near a gas supply. Our Heatless Crimp Splices are manufactured to give you high quality performance in the harshest operating environments, while reducing downtime with a quick and easy installation that uses a positive locking insulator assembly. Since there is no heat required to install, this new type of crimp splice will save considerable labor hours as flammable fuels no longer need to be purged prior to repair – and no special tools are needed! This product can be used in military and aerospace applications, heavy equipment and industrial machinery, marine vessels and subsea, as well as oil & gas exploration.
This innovative new crimp splice uses standard AS81824/1 crimp tools and an internal locking mechanism to lock into place. Heatless Crimp Splices are a small form factor consisting of a total of five parts (grommets, sleeve, crimp barrel and locking assembly) with three color-coded variations that aid in identifying what gauge wire will fit in the splice, as well as what crimping tool you will need to use. The crimp grommet colors are visible through a Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) transparent sleeve, which allows you to visually inspect the crimp barrel seating before and after completion of the splice.
The grommets and sleeve provide an environmental seal that fulfills the SAE AS81824/14 performance requirements while still protecting the wiring from exposure to salt spray, water, fuels, de-icing fluids, and cleaning solvents. The operational temperature range of -65 C to 175 C provides more resistance to heat than the standard crimp splice.
The crimp barrels are made with a cold heading process that ensures a superior mechanical strength before and after crimping and will withstand the rigors of the most demanding environments.
