Castlewood Treatment Centers Collaborating on Eating Disorder Research Study
St Louis, MO (PRWEB) March 24, 2014 -- Castlewood Treatment Centers and other members of the Residential Eating Disorder Consortium are collaborating on a research study to examine the effectiveness of residential eating disorder treatment. The study, which launched this month, is specifically looking at the outcome of treatment on reducing symptoms and improving the quality of life. What makes this study so significant is the large sample size and greater variability in demographics of the participants. It is a collaboration involving 30 residential treatment centers across the country including two of Castlewood’s facilities – St. Louis, Missouri and Monarch Cove, California.
Participation in the study is entirely voluntary. For those clients that choose to participate in the study, he or she will complete psychological assessments both at admission and discharge from residential treatment. The goal of the research study is to provide empirical data on the effectiveness and lasting recovery provided by treatment care.
“Castlewood is committed to ensuring that everyone with eating disorders is able to receive the treatment that they deserve to improve their quality of life,” said Nancy Albus, CEO, Castlewood Treatment Centers. “We are thrilled to be working with our clients and the other members of REDC to take a deeper look and have a greater understanding of the effectiveness of residential treatment.”
Residential Eating Disorder Consortium, or REDC, is an association of residential eating disorder treatment centers in the United States who advocate at both state and federal levels and engage in research and policy work to increase access to care for people with eating disorders.
