San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- In celebration of its 145th anniversary, the San Francisco SPCA is hosting a weekend of celebrations, October 4th - 6th. Adoption fees will be waived all weekend for all animals.
“The SF SPCA was one of the first animal welfare organizations to be founded in America," said Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, co-president of the SF SPCA. “We're proud to have been helping animals and serving San Francisco for 145 years, and we hope the community will join us for a weekend of celebrations!"
The events kickoff Friday with a cocktail party at the SF SPCA's Adoption Center (250 Florida Street), 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., hosted by the SF SPCA and 7x7 Magazine. The party will feature an open bar, food trucks, bespoke t-shirt station, prizewheel, historical exhibit, Old West Flipbook photo booth, smooch the pooch booth, sponsor gifts and more.
Then come back on Saturday, October 5th, for a carnival-themed street fair on Alabama Street between 16th and Treat Streets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The street fair will feature carnival games, food trucks, a beer garden, dunk tank with silent "bid to dunk" auction, face painting and balloon animals, free dental checks for dogs, freestyle tricks class for dogs, bike valet, and live entertainment including a performance by cast members from Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet San Francisco's police horses.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate San Francisco's animals while having a great time with friends and family," said Jason Walthall, SF SPCA co-president. "Come enjoy the festivities and visit with our shelter animals - you might just meet your new best friend!"
