Chaa Creek Announces New Changes for 2014
(PRWEB) December 25, 2013 -- The Lodge at Chaa Creek owners, Mick and Lucy Fleming have just announced that new offerings, tours and initiatives at the popular Belizean eco resort will make 2014 “one of the best years to discover or rediscover Belize.”
The Flemings, who transformed their family farm into Belize’s first eco-resort in 1981, the year Belize became independent from Great Britain, said the resort’s development has been one of steady growth characterised by evolutionary leaps.
“And 2014 promises to be one of those leaps,” Lucy Fleming, who is also Chaa Creek’s general manager, said.
“After all the attention Belize and the entire Mundo Maya, or Maya region, experienced in 2012, 2013 flew by as a year of concentrating on other niches and specific offerings, such as our family, inland adventure and rainforest-to-reef all inclusive Belize vacation packages.
“And throughout the year we developed new offerings and went into a phase of creative development and looking at new things while enhancing our exciting infrastructure and offerings. And now, with some add-ons to our existing packages and attractions, as well as new offerings and having taken on new staff members that enhance our skills base, we’re looking forward to an exciting 2014,” Ms Fleming said.
Ms Fleming said that while Chaa Creek will maintain its emphasis as a family friendly inland eco resort offering range of adventures from soft to moderately extreme it will also capitalise on its reputation as Belize’s specialists in the growing adventure romance market.
“Our Guests Services Manager Denise Duran really is a pioneer in this area and so dedicated that some staff members refer to her as ‘Ix Chel’, the Maya goddess of fertility and love. She’s amazing at organising everything from Belizean destination weddings, honeymoon packages to carefree, intimate holidays with a spice of adventure. We’re turning her loose for 2014, so love will be in the air.
“Brion Young is now our nature reserve and Natural History Centre manager, and brings a real respect and knowledge of Maya culture and Belize’s natural wonders to his role, so he’ll be instrumental in working with guests in our new “Belizean Bespoke Vacations Packages” where guests build their own unique, personalised holidays with all of our experience, resources and infrastructure at their disposal. It’s a new and exciting initiative for 2014.
“We’ve also launched the ‘Miss Macal’ a traditional Belizean ‘John Boat’ that was used widely in the old pirate days and now will be in service up and down the Macal River, joining our epicurean and romantic picnics by horseback, downstream river floats from the Belize Botanic Gardens to Chaa Creek and the ‘La Capitana’ Vaca Lake excursions as truly unique new Belizean experiences.
“And with our added regular, daily departures to and from San Ignacio town for our day tour packages and day trippers wanting to get that extra bit of local colour, and Tropic Air’s new service to Belize City and Ambergris Caye and Placencia from the Maya Flats airstrip at our front door, we’re making it easier for our guests to explore every part of Belize from the comfort of Chaa Creek,” Ms Fleming said.
Ms Fleming added that there will be other new activities and adventure on offer, and that Chaa Creek is currently developing a new web site to better accommodate and detail the eco-resort’s many offerings.
“One thing that our guests can be certain of, every one of our new initiatives will fall under our very rigorous sustainability and responsible travel ethos and that their stay will actually contribute to the environmental and social wellbeing of Belize under our Chaa Creek Cares program.
“We’ll continue to prove during 2014 that being Green and responsible doesn’t come at a cost to casual luxury or fun. That’s a promise we made years ago and will always keep,” she said.
