Championship Productions Launches 'Smart Basketball Training'
Ames, Iowa (PRWEB) August 05, 2015 -- The world’s number one producer of instructional coaching videos, Championship Productions, and Austin McBeth, a former member of Iowa State’s basketball team, (now a college coach), have collaborated on a new online training tool for aspiring basketball players called ‘Smart Basketball Training.’
The online video basketball training tool was developed over the past two years by Austin McBeth, who this past season was an assistant coach at DMACC, who finished the 2015 season ranked #4 in D-II Junior College and works as Smart Basketball Training’s Lead Trainer for the online video training program.
As Smart Basketball was preparing to launch, McBeth shared how he developed the interest to coach: "During my time as a walk on at Iowa State, and not getting to play the minutes that I always expected to, I discovered the passion of coaching that I am pursuing today. Getting to see the game from the bench for the first time and contributing to the team by encouraging, analyzing, and instructing my teammates gave me a new love for the game and a direction of what I desired to do with my life after college."
At the same time McBeth was finding his way into coaching, Championship Production’s founder (Bill Bergan), a multiple Hall of Fame-inductee and 2X NCAA-championship winning track/cross country coach, called then-ISU basketball coach Fred Hoiberg to describe their vision of ‘Smart Basketball Training’ and asked Fred for ideas on possible candidates to help develop the program.
“Fred immediately said ‘Austin McBeth is absolutely the perfect guy," said Bergan. “We had Austin in and our thirty minute meeting ended up being a 2+ hour brainstorming session. When we left the meeting, I had no doubt we had ‘found our guy’ to develop this training tool. Unfortunately, Austin was also interviewing for a couple of out-of-state coaching jobs.”
Last spring, after McBeth finished his first full year as a college assistant coach, Bergan offered McBeth a position with Championship Productions to develop the new online basketball training tool.
‘Smart Basketball Training’ ‘soft launched’ in early July and has already seen an impact. “Before we even launched, the buzz was starting on social media; players have been waiting for something of this caliber to come along,” said McBeth.
The basic components of Smart Basketball Training are:
• Passing
• Handles (ball handling)
• Shooting
• Finishing
There are three purchase options (Basic, Pro and Elite) and with each new plan, or level, additional drills are added. The website, http://www.SmartBasketballTraining.com has several pricing options listed and is currently running an introductory/launch event for new subscribers.
In the ‘Basic Plan’, there are 112 drills – totaling just under 7 hours of content. The ‘Pro Plan’ adds 12 drills and another 50 minutes of instruction and includes two premium/bonus sections available of 12 ‘Special Moves’ and 12 ‘Basketball IQ’ discussions; the Special Moves are ‘SportsCenter-worthy’ moves that can serve a useful purpose if used in the right context of a game and the ‘Basketball IQ’ discussions will help fill in the gaps about when/where/why to do some of these moves.
The ‘Elite Plan’ has a total of 225 drills that includes a premium section of another 4 hours of content featuring some of the ‘best of’ skill development drills from videos of current Championship authors such as former ISU women’s basketball player Lyndsey Fennelly, world-renowned Nike skills trainer Ganon Baker, ‘NBA-player-favorite’ skills trainer Rob McClanaghan, Oklahoma City Thunder’s head coach Billy Donovan and several other best-selling skills authors.
McBeth has also included a ‘prescription workout plan’ that will help every athlete know what to do as they journey through the first 30 days of the program. Also, over 60 of the more advanced drills include a PDF for printing out a visual guide to help explain the set-up and next steps.
