Cherokee Nation Company to Support Massive Army Logistics Program
Catoosa, OK (PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- Cherokee Nation Red Wing has been selected by the U.S. Army Sustainment Command to support the Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise program. The company is providing maintenance operations, supply support and transportation services.
Cherokee Nation Red Wing is one of 25, 8(a) companies selected to support the program. Additional large companies were selected during phase one.
“It is an honor and privilege for one of our Cherokee companies to support our military in this capacity,” said Bill John Baker, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “We will work tirelessly to support our service men and women worldwide with an integrated approach to global logistics services.”
CNRW will compete for task orders to support the Army's directorate of logistics organizations and other groups within the branch for transportation, refurbishment and maintenance of equipment in the field. The work also includes training troops, inventory, services and parts availability, and support for the resetting of equipment so it is ready for deployment.
The program has the potential to reach a value of $23 billion. The five-year performance period is structured through a basic ordering agreement, with some task orders designated only for 8(a) companies. During that time, those companies compete for individual task orders to support the EAGLE mission.
“EAGLE is the primary vehicle for delivering logistics related services to warfighters in the field,” said Russell Claybrook, president of Cherokee Nation Red Wing. “In the past, separate contracts existed for maintenance, supply and transportation support services. This program centralizes responsibility and allows contractors to meet the Army’s needs in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.”
Cherokee Nation Red Wing was formed in 2009 to expand on the Cherokee Nation’s history of supporting the Department of Defense with manufacturing components. Today, CNRW provides materials and services across the nation in support of changing warfighter needs. Wholly owned by the Cherokee Nation, CNRW is a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses.
