Chief Learning Officer Symposium Looks at Redefinition of Learning

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 14, 2016 -- Human Capital Media (HCM), publisher of Chief Learning Officer magazine (CLO), released program details today for the 2016 Spring CLO Symposium. Hundreds of senior learning and development professionals, corporate executives and human capital management experts are expected to attend the event, slated for April 4-6 at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida.

“The reality of business today is much different from what it was yesterday and from what it will be tomorrow,” said Mike Prokopeak, CLO editor in chief. “As a result, learning and leadership are constantly being redefined. Chief learning officers increasingly play a critical role in strategic areas that extend far beyond traditional training, including talent management and workplace culture. That’s what we’re going to be talking about at the symposium.”

The conversation will begin even before the official opening with an interactive pre-conference workshop on the power of improvisation in the workplace facilitated by Chicago’s acclaimed The Second City. Additional innovative approaches to developing high-performing workforces also are the focus of the keynote presentations planned for the three-day conference. This year’s keynote speakers are:

• Jeffrey Pfeffer, a business thought leader, lecturer, author and professor of organizational behavior at Stanford Graduate School of Business
• Brian Robertson, a successful management innovator and author of “Holacracy: the New Management System for a Rapidly Changing World”
• Gretchen Rubin, a popular podcaster and best-selling business author whose latest book is “Better Than Before”
• Michelle Gielan, a former CBS News anchor who founded the Institute for Applied Positive Research and authored the book, “Broadcasting Happiness”

For the rest of the agenda, the magazine’s editors have enlisted industry experts and L&D leaders to deliver panel discussions on critical issues, a wide variety of workshops offering successful “feet-on-the-ground” strategies and interactive “Voice of the CLO” sessions. Symposium attendees can earn up to 12 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute as well as 12 PDCs for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP through the SHRM Certification.

The Spring CLO Symposium also coincides with the annual unveiling of the LearningElite, the magazine’s prestigious benchmarking program recognizing organizations that use exceptional L&D practices to deliver business value. For the first time this year, opening day of the symposium will be capped off by the LearningElite Gala, a special evening awards dinner and celebration.
