Children’s Obesity Sponsors 14th Annual HopeWalk & Healthy Activity Fair
(PRWEB) May 22, 2014 -- Children’s Obesity Fund, cofounded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, is a sponsor of Hands for Hope’s 14th Annual HopeWalk and Activity Fair scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2014, in North Hollywood Park. The family-fun event promotes healthy choices and active lifestyles for families and kids in the local community.
“Hands for Hope displays great dedication to ensuring the families and communities it serves maintain strong and vigorous lives. This annual event is a great means of getting adults and children outdoors and active, with the 5K walk and the many fitness and sports activities that are a part of the fair,” says Julian Omidi, Children’s Obesity Fund cofounder. “My brother and I have a lot of respect for Hands for Hope and its great work and we are proud to once again to sponsor their HopeWalk and Healthy Activity Fair. We hope that the 14th year for the event is the biggest success yet.”
The HopeWalk is an annual event designed to further health, fitness and nutritional awareness among the North Hollywood and neighboring communities. The 5k walk began in 2001 as a stand-alone event. It was expanded in 2006 to include the Kid’s Healthy Activity Fair when organizers recognized that area children and parents needed more information about fostering healthy, sustainable family lifestyles. Those attending the fair can learn about healthy food choices, enjoy sports and fitness activities and sample healthy foods from the local merchants.
Registration for the 5K HopeWalk begins at 8am on June 14th, and the walk begins from the corner of Magnolia and Tujunga Avenues at 9am. The Healthy Activity Fair immediately follows at 10:30AM at North Hollywood Park. This two-tiered event is a team effort with North Hollywood residents, merchants, and community organizations all working together. The citywide event has attracted many corporate sponsors such as Disney, Dole, the California Credit Union, Wells Fargo, Adidas, Whole Foods Markets, and METRO.

Cofounded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, the Children’s Obesity Fund (http://www.childrensobesityfund.org) hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy. Children’s Obesity Fund partners with other organizations to educate and support parents, educators and others so that we can all work together to raise healthy, active, social, and happy children. While the organization does not accept donations, it does encourage direct contributions of money and talents to the associations featured on our website. Children’s Obesity Fund is on Facebook as well as Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest.
