Cigar Advisor Publishes Pieces on Cigars and the Mafia
Easton, PA (PRWEB) September 07, 2013 -- The all-new Cigar Advisor is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor has just published a new article in their September issue, titled “They Died with Their Cigars Lit” – a brief look at the connection between mobsters and their cigars.
“As far back as I could remember I always wanted to be a gangster.” Those words, as spoken by actor Ray Liotta, who portrayed Henry Hill in the movie Goodfellas, set the tone for the movie as well as for contributor Barry Stein's article on some of The Mob's most notorious cigar-smoking kingpins. Capone, Bonanno, Galante. Names all too familiar to the FBI. In addition to being crime kingpins, they also shared a love for smoking – evidenced by numerous photographs of these men with their cigars.
Contributor Barry Stein offers a look at some of these notorious crime bosses. “Their lives didn't end well,” he says, “but at least they died holding their precious cigars.”
A native of Brooklyn, Stein writes, “I knew of some of those Scorsese characters firsthand, as well as members of other families who were not depicted in the movie. Actually, one of the cigar shops I was a partner in was visited by many people who shall remain nameless.” Barry’s article also cites the infamous mob hit on Carmine Galante, who, after meeting his fate, was depicted in a newspaper photo with his cigar still in his mouth. How that cigar got there is also part of the story.
Readers are invited to learn more about the connection Stein draws between cigars and the Mob in this month’s Cigar Advisor Magazine.
