City Bike Designer Comments on Vancouver’s Proposed Bike Share Program
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- On July 22, city bike designer, Linus Bike, comments on the city of Vancouver’s proposed plan to introduce a bike share program in the coming months.
According to a July 21, 2013 VancouverSun.com article entitled “Bike-share program expected to get rolling in Vancouver within months,” Vancouver city officials are expected to approve a final report which would result in 250 bikes stationed in 25 locations throughout the city’s downtown area. This first step would act as a test for any glitches.
The rest of the program, which includes 1,500 bikes, 2,850 docks at 125 stations, is set to launch next spring.
Vancouver Councilwoman Heather Deal, who’s in charge of the bike-share program, is anxiously anticipating the launch. “I’m so excited, it’s taken so long,” she says. “We’re a city where cycling is a growing way of getting around the city. I suspect people will find themselves using it when they weren’t planning to.”
According to the report to council, Alta Bicycle Share, the bike-share company working in tandem with the city of Vancouver, is finalizing plans with sponsors, financial arrangements and securing station site locations.
Jason Latty, a representative from Linus Bike, a city bike designer, believes the bike share program will see a great amount of success. “Vancouver is already known as one of the most popular cycling cities in the world. The addition of the bike share program will only strengthen the already prevalent cycling culture that exists there.”
