CME Outfitters Launches a New Medical Simulation on Rheumatoid Arthritis
Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) August 19, 2016 -- CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, announces a new CMEO Medical Simulation on The Management of Comorbid Conditions in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis supported by an educational grant from Pfizer, Inc. Launched on August 15th, this activity is available for free to individuals seeking CME, CNE, or CPE credit.
According to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, strong evidence demonstrates that patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are at a high risk for developing several comorbid disorders; these conditions may have atypical features, and thus may be difficult to diagnose. In one study, an estimated 80% of patients with RA have one or more comorbidities. If not managed effectively, comorbidities can have wide ranging impacts on people with RA – worsening their levels of physical disability, increasing support needs, reducing their ability to work, and increasing risk of mortality. Because many of these coexistent conditions respond to preventive or therapeutic measures, comorbidity needs to be detected and managed to reduce impact on patients with RA.
In this decision-tree medical simulation participants will navigate the clinical challenges presented by a patient with RA. Along the way, the expert faculty will provide guidance, insights, and evidence for the positive and negative consequences of their decisions. This actionable, evidence-based simulation and improve clinician confidence in their ability to recognize and assess comorbidities, improve coordination of care among health care providers, and develop personalized treatment plans for managing comorbid conditions in patients with RA.
