College Basketball Conference Tournaments Set To Tip Off
South Windsor, CT (PRWEB) March 11, 2014 -- Several of college basketball’s most widely-known tournaments tip off this week, as tournament season gets underway in earnest. The conference tournaments will have a different twist this season, and tickets to conference tournament play are available at Ticket Liquidator.
The conference landscape changed dramatically between the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, as many major schools that were in the Big East left for the ACC, Big Ten or American Athletic conferences. The Big East, now comprised of mostly Catholic schools, will still hold its annual basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden.
Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh, participants in last year’s Big East tournament, will play in the ACC tournament. The ACC boasts some of the NCAA’s biggest basketball schools such as Duke and North Carolina – and its new tournament should provide some of the best conference tournament action.
The first-ever American Athletic Conference tournament will be held in Memphis, and features former Big East powerhouse basketball schools Cincinnati, Louisville and Connecticut.
“The new conferences may have taken away legacy appeal from the tournaments, but should provide even more entertaining tournament basketball than ever before,” JP Starkey, sports specialist, Ticket Liquidator, said. “Even in its smaller form, the Big East tournament has two schools ranked in the top 25, plus the allure of Madison Square Garden. The newly-formed American Athletic Conference boasts five top-25 teams.”
The American Athletic, ACC, Big East, Big 12, Pac 12, and SEC tournaments all tip off Wednesday, March 12, while the Big Ten tournament gets underway Thursday, March 13.
Each year, the NCAA awards 32 automatic bids to the NCAA tournament to conference champions, while the other 36 teams admitted into the 68-team tournament are selected by the selection committee. Tickets for each round of the tournament are available at Ticket Liquidator.
