Columbia Winery to Host 10th Generation Crystal Glassmaker Georg Riedel for One-of-a-Kind Seminar
WOODINVILLE, Wash. (PRWEB) November 07, 2016 -- DOES THE WINE GLASS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Columbia Winery to Host 10th Generation Crystal Glassmaker Georg Riedel for One-of-a-Kind Seminar
Columbia Winery invites guests to explore the difference of tasting wine from glasses specifically designed to accentuate the wine’s precise varietal characteristics. This exclusive seminar with Georg Riedel, 10th generation family member and owner of revolutionary wine glassware producer Riedel Crystal, to learn about the fascinating relationship between the shape of a wine glass and our perception and enjoyment of wines.
On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 6 pm, Columbia Winery will welcome Mr. Riedel to their historic tasting room in Woodinville, Washington for a guided tasting and educational wine glass seminar. Riedel is known worldwide for their exceptional quality and pioneering approach to crafting stemware, being the first to recognize that the shape of the glass dramatically affects the taste of the wine.
“We are very honored to welcome Georg Riedel from his home in Austria to offer us his unique insight on wine tasted from its ideal glass,” says Columbia Winery Senior Manager John Sportelli. “This promises to be a fascinating seminar, allowing us to taste the differences in each wine tasted in Riedel’s varietal-specific glassware. It is truly something that must be experienced to fully understand.”
Mr. Sportelli will host the evening, which includes tastes of some of his favorite wines, including Columbia Winery’s luxurious, expansive and fruit-forward Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the winery’s intense, red-fruited Horse Heaven Hills Syrah, among others. Four wines will be tasted side-by-side to see how the aromas and flavors of each change in the Riedel stemware, allowing guests to discover how the unique glass shapes highlight each wine’s specific properties.
Admission to the seminar includes all wines and a four-glass set of delicate-rimmed, machine-blown crystal glass Riedel Veritas stemware, valued at $115.
A limited number of tickets are still available for the event, taking place on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Tickets can purchased here. Reserve your spot today.
About Columbia Winery
For more than 50 years, Columbia Winery has embraced a progressive winemaking philosophy that has led to new grape varieties, vineyards and blends. Today, Winemaker Sean Hails continues this innovation, handcrafting an award-winning collection of Washington State wines from grapes grown on southwest-facing slopes in the Columbia Valley. At the height of the growing season, the sun shines for up to 16 hours per day. This intense sunlight, coupled with only up to 12 inches of rain annually, translates to deeply concentrated color, flavor and structure in the glass. Located in the heart of Woodinville, the Columbia tasting room offers daily tastings in a rustic, yet elegant, setting.
