Coming of Age: Bay Area Announce Results of Survey
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- Coming of Age: Bay Area announced the results of a “Come Together, Socializing & Service” survey of their 1,800+ members examining volunteer preferences. A majority of those members – Bay Area residents 50 and older – declared a partiality for volunteering that also included meeting and socializing with other people. Fifty-eight percent of that same group said that working as part of a team of four to six people would be ideal.
"The survey revealed something we'd long suspected from occasional anecdotal feedback," said Noreen McKeon, Program Manager. "Over half of our volunteers opt for opportunities that allow them to work with others. Drilling down, 93 percent of that group stated a preference for continued interaction with their volunteer team after their work is done, going to a movie, coffee shop or getting together for dinner."
In a companion poll, 85 percent of Coming of Age:Bay Area's member organizations declared they have the capacity and staff available to supervise volunteer teams.
"Polling local nonprofits was the flip side of our survey," said McKeon. "To find out that such a huge percentage are open to employing our volunteers in the way they prefer to work essentially closes the loop on this question. Team building is the best way we can respond to what Bay Area people 50 years and older said they want, and what an overwhelming majority of our nonprofits just told us they need."
By staying in touch through formal polls and informal feedback from readers of its entertaining e-newsletter "Inspiring Opportunities," Coming of Age:Bay Area is able to insure the most rewarding volunteer experiences for its members.
