Conde Nast Traveler readers rate Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa in Lake Placid, NY #1 in New England and mid-Atlantic region; 11th nationally
Lake Placid, NY (PRWEB) October 26, 2016 -- The readers continue to speak for Lake Placid’s finest.
This time it came from the readers of Conde Nast Traveler, one of the most respected travel publications in the world, who have rated the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa the number one resort in New England and the mid-Atlantic region for 2016.
The voters gave the iconic Lake Placid property a grade of 97.04 (out of 100). The score not only gave the Inn the top-rated distinction in the two regions, but extrapolated nationally, placed it an impressive 11th.
“We’ve been blessed over the years to receive some very noteworthy accolades,” said Ed Weibrecht, Mirror Lake Inn owner. “This one, however, is very special due to the fact that it’s decided by travelers, the very people our staff interacts with all the time. I am indebted to our guests for the honor of this rating, but I must also thank our staff and how they make every single visitor feel like family.”
Across the country, the AAA Four Diamond resort graded ahead of luminous properties such as Stein Eriksen Lodge (94.22), Four Seasons Resort Vail (93.84), Enchantment Resort (92.78), The Lodge at Pebble Beach (91.53), The Greenbrier (91.01), Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples (90.48), The Breakers Palm Beach (89.57) and Canyon Ranch in Lenox (88.74).
Among the comments:
"Mirror Lake wrote the book on customer service. They welcome you back with open arms and treat you like family."
"Beautiful water vistas."
“Although there are plenty of things to do on-site throughout the year"—complimentary snowshoes are available—"the inn’s close proximity to the center of town and nearby Whiteface Mountain makes it easy to try many other outdoor activities."
"An absolute must is a massage in the spa."
The Inn has recently completed a $4 million initiative in which 92 of its 131 units were enlarged, making them 35 percent more spacious than standard hotel rooms. The renovation incorporated wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling windows, with a sunporch-style sitting area.
In addition, the modernization added more power outlets that are easier to access, placed USB connections in the walls and recessed reading lights over both beds.
Among the hotel’s distinguishing features, guests will see mahogany walls, vaulted ceilings, polished walnut floors and unparalleled views of Mirror Lake and the surrounding Adirondack High Peaks.
Its most unique display, seen in very few hotels, features Olympic silver and bronze medals. The hardware was achieved by Weibrecht’s son, Andrew, in alpine skiing in 2014 and 2010, respectively. The medals greet guests upon arrival.
In addition to the 2016 Readers Choice Award from Conde Nast Traveler, recent honors include:
--AAA Four Diamond rating for 32 consecutive years in the lodging category
--AAA Four Diamond rated dining experience at The View Restaurant for the last nine years, and the number one restaurant in Lake Placid on TripAdvisor since January 2016
--Number 1 spa in Lake Placid as determined by browsers on TripAdvisor
--US News and World Report’s Best Hotels
--CNN.com’s Best 7 World’s Most Beautiful Lakeside Lodges
--TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame
--Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 17 consecutive years
“Many congratulations to you and your team for receiving the 2016 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award,” remarked Filip Boyen, CEO of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. “Your score is very impressive and makes us proud to have you as a member hotel.”
The Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa dates back to 1883 as a private home. Based on guest comments, and the care they are given at the hotel, the sense of a private home is still clearly evident.
