Cordisco Appointed to Disciplinary Board in Pennsylvania District II
Newtown, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- With over 25 years of litigation experience, Bucks County attorney John F. Cordisco, Esq. will be an appointed member of the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board as a representative of District II beginning April 1, 2015.
The Disciplinary Board regularly assists the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in performing its constitutional duty to regulate attorney conduct. This includes situations that may arise in which certain attorneys or firms may be reprimanded or disciplined by the state Supreme Court, leading to the possibilities of: suspension, probation or even disbarment. The Board was created in 1972 following the Supreme Court adoption of the Rules of Disciplinary Enforcement. This adoption provided the Disciplinary Board exclusive jurisdiction over attorney discipline. The Court also established four district offices, each responsible for a specified number of counties within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board is composed of thirteen (13) members, of whom eleven (11) are lawyers and two (2) are nonlawyers. These are voluntary, unpaid positions to which the members are appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in three year terms. Cordisco will represent District II, which includes much of southeastern Pennsylvania.
Cordisco’ s career began in political office, where he was first elected to represent the 140th legislative district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1980 at the age of 25.
