Could Ending Obesity Solve Domestic Energy Crisis?
PHILADELPHIA (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- What if America could battle obesity with bio-fuel for domestic energy consumption? In Janet Sadler’s new book, “Big Town,” America has battled obesity with a weight loss program that converts fat into bio-fuel for energy. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than a third of Americans are overweight. Sadler imagined a world where America could solve one of its biggest killers while also helping solve the energy crisis.
“I wrote ‘Big Town’ because weight is an issue to millions of Americans, including me. I thought it was interesting to consider actual fat as a remedy for the energy crisis in the form of bio-fuel,” said Sadler.
“Big Town” is a futuristic novel that follows a couple, Rose and Bruno, as they participate in a weight loss program from a secret government facility in the desert. Overweight and gearing up for a wedding, the two decide to try the free program. However, the robotic-led facility turns tragic when people begin to die and a cover-up by robots ensues. Told with humor, “Big Town” is a lighthearted look at a growing number of controversial topics in America.
Sadler wanted to use satire to discuss real issues in America, including weight management, healthcare, government influence in private lives and the growing energy crisis. Humor is very important to Sadler, who said, “We all take ourselves much too seriously; a good laugh now and then is necessary.”
Published in many small literary magazines for her poetry, Sadler’s new book about weight loss resonates with her deeply. “I identify with those who share the same embarrassing results from pleasing their palates,” said Sadler. “I’ve tried all the diets, pills, diet doctors, and expensive weight loss programs.”
