Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) August 14, 2014 -- CUE is proud to announce that it has named Mike Lawrence as the organization’s first Chief Executive Officer. Having served as the nonprofit's executive director since 2005, Lawrence is ready to embrace his new role under the reorganized structure, which was approved at the Board’s annual retreat July 23-24, 2014.
“CUE's growth at our conferences, in professional development, and membership over the last few years is absolutely tremendous. To meet the demands of this growth while also preparing for the future, CUE is excited to elevate Mike to our new CEO position,” said Robert Craven, CUE Board President. “In expanding staff and creating the new CEO position, CUE is prepared to expand high quality professional development offerings to our members.”
Lawrence’s appointment to CEO comes after his earning his CAE (Certified Association Executive) credential, the highest professional credential in the association industry. To earn this certificate, the applicant must complete 100 hours of specialized coursework, have a minimum of three years’ experience in nonprofit organization management, pass a rigorous examination in association management and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certificate, one must regularly complete professional development courses through the Center for Association Leadership.
