David Pulman Releases YouTube Video Series
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) December 14, 2013 -- David Pulman, former president of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management at GlaxoSmithKline, has released a series of videos on his YouTube channel. The videos cover subjects like motivating employees and yourself, personal development, work/life balance, and the importance of continuing education and learning in one’s career.
On learning, David Pulman GSK discusses the importance of cultivating an “attitude of curiosity,” stating that the best way to learn something is often to immerse oneself in it. Specifically, he states, “When I go on international trips, I always pick up a copy of the local newspapers and, even if I don’t speak the language, look at the pictures. The pictures tell me a story and by reading them, I learn about the culture.”
In another video about learning, he discusses the importance of making mistakes: “Making a mistake twice indicates you don’t have the right learning attitude, but the easiest way to avoid making mistakes at all is to observe what other people do. Just watching people is an incredibly great way to learn to avoid certain mistakes.”
On the topic of work-life balance, Dr. Pulman states that there is no such thing; however, certain events in life or family should always be paramount to work. The most important skill to manipulate work-life balance, he says, is learning to understand the value of time. “Time can easily be roped,” says David. “People will come along and ask me for a 30-minute meeting, when in fact they only need 10 minutes. You’ve really got to re-educate people who interfere with you. Do not let people rob you of your time – time is an investment, and a part of that investment is building relationships, and part of work being part of life is that ability to build relationships.”
These reflections from a widely respected business executive make for valuable watching for anyone who wants to learn more about business, management, or personal development.
