Denver Arborist Branches Out With Mobile Web Design
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 07, 2015 -- Paul Donovan looked at his phone and saw the future. With over half of all internet shopping now done on mobile devices, Donovan realized it was time to redesign his web presence to take advantage of the trend.
“I wanted to re-brand our business with a new website that had a fresh, clean look and was user-friendly on all platforms from desktop computers to mobile phones,” Donovan said.
When Denver experienced a high level of storm damage this spring, Donovan realized that his customers had an extra, unusual need—shopping during a power outage. “When trees fall onto rooftops and power lines, home internet service can be cut off,” Donovan noted. “With a mobile-friendly website, customers who need emergency tree service can find us quickly with a cellular connection no matter where they are.”
Donovan engaged Denver-based Unleaded Group to build the new site. “We looked at several options but ultimately decided on a custom design for the flexibility and security we wanted,” Donovan said.
Unleaded built Donovan a Responsive ExpressionEngine website. “Customers don’t want to shop on sites where they can’t use links and buttons without zooming or scrolling, where images are too small to see, or where navigation is difficult or confusing—especially in an emergency” said Jarod Clark, president of the Unleaded Group. “By using customized responsive design techniques, the back-end server detects the type of device being used and delivers content that’s optimized for that format.”
Launched in early June at DenverTrees.com, the Responsive ExpressionEngine website is designed to minimize and maximize, adjusting automatically to the width of the device being used from a desktop computer to a hand-held mobile phone.
Earlier this year, Google, the behemoth search engine by contrast to all others, determined to delimit any non-mobile or non-responsive websites from a search conducted on a mobile phone or tablet. With 80% of users on mobile devices, a responsive website is now a necessity, said Clark. “If someone is searching from a mobile device, they will rank results based on whether a site is optimized for that use. By making their site adaptable to multiple platforms, Denver Trees guarantees itself a higher ranking in search results.”
To prove Clark’s point, Donovan has seen an immediate growth in traffic to his site, resulting in more business. “Since our re-launch, I’m booking out 5-6 weeks’ worth of work, even after raising my rates. We’re receiving more calls and estimate requests than ever before,” Donovan said. “As soon as we launched the new site we got positive feedback from customers and prospects alike. They especially like the way the site works on mobile devices,” he added.
Asked if the investment in a custom-built responsive design was worth the time and money, Donovan said, “The development went extremely smoothly. Communication was very good and the site was finished quickly. The site is a great foundation for the growth we plan for the future. I couldn't be happier with the results.”
