DiabetesSisters Welcomes New Board Members Matt Stella and Dona Rice
Durham, North Carolina (PRWEB) January 08, 2015 -- DiabetesSisters is pleased to announce the election of two highly esteemed individuals, Matt Stella and Donna Rice, to their Board of Directors, effective January 1. As Board Members, Mr. Stella and Ms. Rice will join existing board members Mike Swearingen, Andrea Thomas, Vicki Norris, David Warren, Diana Karczmarczyk, and Wanda Nicholson, MD in setting DiabetesSisters-related policies, fundraising, and representing the organization to the community.
Matt Stella brings many years of expertise in diabetes-related policy and advocacy, and currently serves as the National Policy & Advocacy Director for Cardiovascular & Diabetes at multinational company Johnson & Johnson. Prior to this position, Matt worked for various pharmaceutical and medical device companies in a business, training, and sales capacities. With an expertise in communication and a lengthy management and leadership history, Matt has effectively created and maintained business partnerships. Most recently, his work involved establishing and maintaining patient and physician advocacy partners, while also leading grassroots advocacy efforts. Mr. Stella graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration.
Donna Rice has an extensive history working in the healthcare industry in a clinical capacity. Currently, she serves as the Senior Medical Director for Sanofi US, where she works to improve patient and provider education about diabetes-related products to improve clinical outcomes. Before taking this position, Ms. Rice served in leadership positions at Big Picture Health LLC, The American Association of Diabetes Educators, and the Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute Affiliate of Baylor Health Care System. In these positions, she managed diabetes self-management education and training, worked to develop the strategy and direction of the organizations, and helped to improve quality of care by improving the delivery of services and diabetes interventions. Ms. Rice has a nursing background, with nearly 15 years of clinical experience, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Baker College.
